•    Carry a comfortable backpack; it’s much better than a suitcase. Try it out before you start your trip, you’ll spend lots of time with it on your back.

•    Make your luggage easy to recognize with labels or name tags.

•    When packing, make sure you only take the essentials, whether you’ll be travelling for fifteen days or one month, pack as if you were leaving for only one week. Avoid the “just in case” things, you’ll never use them.

•    It’s a good idea to make photocopies of your passport or ID, and keep them separated from the originals.

•    Print out the reservation numbers for the Hostels and directions to get there or save them as favorites on your mobile’s GPS.

•    Never keep all of your money together.

•    If you have a Hostel Membership Card, don’t forget to bring it! You’ll need to present it to receive your discounts.

•    Take only the essential medications that you’ll need. There will be find pharmacies wherever you go.

•    Bring a universal plug adapter.

•    You probably won’t use your mobile to save on roaming, but you might need it as an alarm clock. Also, you’ll find Wi-Fi access in many areas, so don’t forget your charger!

•    There will definitely be lots of “Kodak Moments,” so don’t forget your camera and charger. A USB pen drive is also quite useful for transferring your photos so that your camera’s memory always has plenty of space.

•    Other useful items: mini sewing kit, small lock, Swiss Army Knife, lantern, secret money belt, ear plugs (in case there’s a party next door at the Hostel), etc.
